Board of Directors:

Shonette H. Grant, President  Shonette is an Associate Professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, where she teaches composition and literature courses.  She has a BA in English from Hampton University and an MA in English Arts from Seton Hall University.  Shon has a passion for literature, especially the poetry of Langston Hughes and the fiction of Toni Morrison.  She has written several educational curricula and serves as an editor for the Northern Virginia Review.  An educator for over 15 years, her primary goals in teaching are to impress upon her students the value of literature and the importance of learning to communicate effectively.

Belinda Gordon-Battle, Vice President       Belinda graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, University of Virginia with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and the Johns Hopkins University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Community Counseling.  Belinda, a licensed clinical therapist is co-owner of Battle-Carreno Clinical Services, a mental health agency in Laurel, MD.  She has worked continuously with young people, their families and school systems to develop achievable goals and execute behaviors that cultivate and support increased self-confidence while decreasing negative self-talk and anxiety.  Belinda urges you to SPEAK!

Rhonda Caldwell, SPHR, Secretary       Rhonda is a dynamic facilitator with over 15 years of combined experience in private industry and academic.  Ms. Caldwell has designed and facilitated general education and diversity related programs for executive, management, and non-management professionals.  Ms. Caldwell currently operates an education firm that services the academic needs of students and provides education–related consulting to parents and public schools in the D.C. Metropolitan area.  Rhonda holds a Bachelors’ of Science Degree in Health Education from Pennsylvania State University and is a candidate for a Master’s in Education.

Monica Brown-Lipscomb, Treasurer   Monica is a Special Education Coordinator in Prince George's County Public Schools.  Monica has a BS from Virginia State University in Special Education and Psychology and a MA in Education from Central Michigan University.   Monica has over 20 years experience in education, summer curriculum writer for the Special Education Department of Prince George’s County Public Schools, facilitating training and group activities for youth and empowering youth to achieve greatness.  Monica is married with one son and currently resides in Bowie, MD.
 
Andrea Greene- Horace, Parliamentarian/Historian    Biography is forthcoming, but the work has already begun!
