Interpretation of Poetry (IP): 8 minutes, memorized from a published poem. The poems must be at least 8 lines long, or a section of a longer poem. Each poem should be appropriately introduced.
Interpretation of Prose (IPR): 8 minutes, a piece memorized from a single source identified as prose (i.e. a book, short story, or essay). The piece should be appropriately introduced.
Dramatic Interpretation (DI): 8 minutes, memorized. This is a single person event in which the competitor performs from a published play. The piece should be appropriately introduced.
Demonstrated or Illustrated Talk: 8 minutes, memorized. Written by the competitor. A speech designed to inform or persuade; required to have visual aides (at least 3, but no more than 5) to supplement the speech.
Declamation: 8 minutes, memorized. Delivering a speech that was written and delivered by another person in public. The piece should be appropriately introduced.
NOTE ABOUT TIME LIMITS: There is no minimum time for any event.
